With an undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Psychology, photography managed to link my past interests with a desire to make art. I began my master’s degree at Columbia College in Chicago. I transferred and completed my Master’s of Arts Degree at the International Center of Photography, in an intensive 56-credit program, affiliated with New York University. I wanted to finish before having children; therefore, I presented my graduate thesis show while I was 8 months pregnant.
I was told to fit my kids into my lifestyle, a goal that was not always easy or possible. I have spent the last 13 years trying to merge my life as an artist with my life as a mother of four children. For that reason, I incorporate accessible materials like pencils, oil pastels, and water based oil paints, which do not require turpentine or much preparation time. I work in my little cocoon I call home. Now, as my children are getting older, I have decided to devote more time to my art and take the next step to get my artwork out into the world.
